Bishop Myron J. Cotta appointed new
Bishop for the Diocese of Stockton

The Diocese of Stockton is very pleased to announce that Pope Francis appointed Bishop Myron Cotta to succeed Bishop Stephen Blaire as Bishop of Stockton. Bishop Blaire has served the Stockton Diocese since March 16, 1999, and submitted his resignation to the Holy Father when he reached the mandatory retirement age of 75 on December 22, 2016. Until Bishop Cotta’s installation, Bishop Blaire is serving as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese. Bishop Cotta will be the sixth Bishop of Stockton.

Bishop Cotta’s installation will take place on Thursday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Stanislaus in Modesto. Evening Prayer prior to the Installation will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Annunciation on March 14. Both events are by ticket only. The Mass of Installation will be live streamed via KNXT Catholic Television and the faithful will be able to access it through their website.
